Psalms 116:15 reminds us that, “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.” Heaven rejoices at the arrival of another saint: Deaconess Martha Ellis Jones Lewis, a beloved mother and grandmother to many. Deaconess Lewis peacefully exchanged her earthly garments for her robe in glory on December 11, 2025, while residing at her daughter's home.

A Home Going Celebration will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2025, in the sanctuary of Eastend Baptist Church, where she served the church wholeheartedly in various capacities. A public viewing will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2 pm, as she lies in state at the altar of her church.

She will be laid to rest in the Oakland Cemetery, Monday, December 22, 2025.
