Parts of this poem beautifully reflect the character and life of Mr. Loy T. Barnes:  Fathers are wonderful people, Too little understood, And we do not sing their praises,  As often as we should.  And like our Heavenly Father, He's a guardian and a guide, Someone that we can count on, To be always on our side.

With tears of sadness, the Barnes family prepares to say, "I'll See You Later," to a vital link in their family chain. Mr. Barnes, affectionately known as "Frog," laid down his earthly tools, placed them in his heavenly toolbox, and chewed his final piece of Wrigley's Spearmint gum on August 3, 2026, at ECU Medical Center. 

Services honoring his life and legacy will begin with a Visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, in the chapel of S. Jones Funerals and Cremations.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in the chapel of S. Jones Funerals and Cremations.

Following the service, Interment will take place in the Barnes Family Cemetery.
