A psalmist once wrote, "If I never sing another song down here on this earth, I'll be singing with the angels in my new home." Today, S. Jones F. & C. joins the Evans family in comforting the hearts of those who remain as they announce the peaceful transition of their beloved Nokomis Jerome Evans from his earthly home to his eternal heavenly home. On Thursday, July 23, 2026, Nick, as he was affectionately known, answered the call of his Lord and Savior—the One whose goodness he so often proclaimed. His labor of love on earth has now given way to his eternal reward.
A visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Red Hill Baptist Church, Whitakers, North Carolina, where he will lie in state at the altar. During this time, his loving family will be present to receive friends and expressions of sympathy.
A Celebration of Life service will begin at 2:30 p.m., immediately following the visitation.
Following the service, Committal Rites will be held at the Red Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, where Nick will be laid to rest.
