Timothy Davis Rives, 70, of Enfield, NC, passed away on February 22, 2024. Tim was born on February 22, 1954, in Nash County, NC to Julian and Mary Alice Rives.

Shortly after graduating high school from Enfield Academy in 1972, Tim began a lifelong career as a Network Switch Engineer, beginning with GTE Automatic Electric, then on to Nortel, and finally retiring with Concord Telephone Company. Tim was highly specialized in his field, overseeing countless installation projects, providing the best telephone switching equipment in the world.

In addition to his incredible work ethic, Tim had an innate ability to build or fix anything, literally, ANYTHING. From mechanics to carpentry, there wasn’t a project that he could not master.

Tim had a passion for classic cars, collecting many of his own, including his 1965 Pontiac GTO. He loved camping with his family in the mountains, fishing, attending car shows, and going to drag races. Tim had an enduring love for animals, a testament to his gentle and loving spirit.

In his later years and much like his own father, Tim never met a stranger. He enjoyed talking with and getting to know people. When he wasn’t taking meticulous care of Elmwood Cemetery, you could always find him lending a hand and socializing with friends and family at Bellamy Hardware Store.

Tim leaves behind cherished memories with his two bestest buddies, daughters, Kristen and Shannon Rives. He will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family.

A Memorial Celebration of Life by the Graveside will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, March 3, 2024 at the Elmwood Cemetery in Enfield, NC.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Tim, may be made to The Salvation Army.
